A manufactuer of pigments was having difficulty achieving a consistent feed of the pigments to a dryer and contacted S. Howes for a solution. The main challenge to the system was the heavy and dense (45 lbs/cu) nature of the materials being transferred. S. Howes’ solution started with a paddle mixer which mixed and fed the materials to a screw conveyor which moved the product to a positive displacement pump before it was fed into the dryer. The system was able to handle the challenging materials and resulted in a more homogenous product being fed into the dryer at a more consistent and improved rate.
